I have always wanted to blog about my food truck catering experiences so when my friend Bethany with Content Social Media Queen asked me to write a post for her Sayonara Summer contest I immediately said “yes”! I mean, why not?  It sounds like fun!  And then….the panic set in.  I have been procrastinating for months to write a blog post, mostly because I am super busy!  I decided what better time than summer to dive in?  The blog hop is the perfect platform to dive off of.  So, here goes my first post…ever!

I decided to share my favorite moments of summer with you.  Moments that made me smile and gave me chills and thrills.  Follow along with me as I unveil them to you in this post.

Surprise Backyard Wedding

We planned and catered a surprise backyard wedding for professional couple.  How often does that happen?!  To be clear, the surprise was for the guests not the bride and groom.

The invitations were sent to family and close friends welcoming them to a wine tasting and pool party.  That sounds reasonable, right? Except how do you get your guests to wear appropriate clothing for a super casual event.  You advise them that your friend is starting a catering company (yup, that’s me) and professional photos will be taken.  It worked!

Guests arrived in Tommy Bahama and summer dresses and were greeted by the host and hostess.  While the drinking festivities were taking place the bride escaped into the house and slipped into her bridal gown without anyone seeing her.

And then….surprise!

Guestswere than were escorted to our food truck to order dinner which was thrilling to them.  Our theme was Mediterranean so we served our succulent skewered chicken marsala and beef with gorgonzola much to our guest’s delight.

After dinner the champagne was poured at the tables and the wedding cake was displayed.  We made a raspberry vanilla naked cake and decorated it with fresh florals.  It looked and tasted amazing!  The bride and groom toasted to happiness and the party went on for hours.

Birthday/Pool Party

food-truck-caravan-0013Our next adventure was the birthday/pool party. I had never seen a more magnificent backyard pool adorned with a rock waterfall and grotto.  The hosts were lovely and invited me for a tour of their gorgeous home.

My favorite part of the day was watching the young boys and their dog jump off the rocks. The smiles were contagious! We served watermelon salad and chicken wings at their bar and our guests ordered gourmet burgers and dogs off the truck. Our caramel filled churros were a big hit. It was an awesome day!

Dancing Apache Lodge Wedding in Sedona

It would not be summer without heading up to Sedona to cater an unforgettable wedding. We love Sedona weddings and this one was a definate favorite. We arrived early to the Dancing Apache Lodge on a beautiful Saturday morning to park the the truck, prep and get familiar with our surroundings.

We were able to meet family and friends and were invited into the lodge to relax before start time. The setting was beyond beautiful and the vibe relaxed.  The bride and I bonded over the fact that we were both born and raised in Massachusetts!

We set up an appetizer station while guests were at the ceremony.  I just had to get a sneak peek and watch the stunning bride walk down the aisle to meet her future husband.  She was radiant!  The guests made their way to us after the ceremony and enjoyed our gourmet chips and salsa bar that also included southwest eggrolls and watermelon basil salad.

Guests were seated for toasts before making their way to our truck for dinner.  We served a fusion of the bride and groom’s favorite food which included a mac and cheese bar and street tacos.  This custom menu brought lots of smiles and conversations.  We loved everything about this wedding!

One of the most rewarding elements of the job is developing personal relationships with my clients. Everyone is unique and has a different story to tell and having the opportunity to tell the story through food is rewarding and meaningful to me.  I had a blast this summer catering these events and I am looking forward to more fun-filled events this fall.
